They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 victory over the Port St. Lucie Jaguars<\/a>. Leading Westwood to victory were Oscar ‘OJ’ Joseph<\/a> and Edwin ‘Flash’ Gibson<\/a>. Joseph shot 47% from the field to rack up 18 points and seven boards, while Gibson posted eight points in addition to six assists and four steals. Those six assists gave Gibson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith ‘4K’ Seme<\/a>, who put up seven points.<\/p>\n

Westwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port St. Lucie only pulled down five offensive rebounds.<\/p>\n

When it comes to explaining why Port St. Lucie lost, don’t look at Daniel Alexis<\/a>. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-10 on his way to 17 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Illisha Johnson<\/a> also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.<\/p>\n

Westwood’s win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Port St. Lucie, they have been struggling recently as they’ve lost four of their last five games. That’s put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.<\/p>\n

Coincidentally, Westwood and Port St. Lucie will both be playing Tradition Prep the next time they take the court. The Jaguars will head out to face the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.<\/p>\n
