Court documents revealed she was previously arrested for a DUI in 2013.

WINK News has been closely following this story and spoke with the witness who called 911.

The incident unfolded when a concerned witness followed Kaduk’s vehicle and alerted authorities. The witness, who wished to remain anonymous, shared their account with WINK News: “I saw her leaving the lanes many times and she almost took out a truck on the right-hand side and I thought, oh no, what do I do? You know, this is an emergency. Someone has to stop her.”

Neighbors expressed their concerns, urging city leaders to address the situation promptly.

“They have to comment on so there’s no way they can not make the mayor himself has to come out on this and talk about it,” a neighbor said. “There’s no doubt about it. He’s got to address it right away. And I’m sure the rest of the council members have their own opinions, and they should come out, and they all should make a stand on it for sure.”

Charles Snyder, a Cape Coral resident, said, “You have a responsibility to show the public that this is the standard we have, and we shouldn’t go below that.”

Wayne Draper, another Cape Coral resident, stated, “You did it wrong and you have to, uh, pay the price just like me or anybody else. If you, you know, you do it wrong, you gotta pay the price. It’s pretty simple.”

The City of Cape Coral released a statement on the incident.

“This is a personal legal matter unrelated to the councilmember’s duties or city operations. The city has no further comment.”

In a statement on Facebook, Kaduk addressed the incident and said she intends to cooperate with the legal process. Read the full statement below:

“I want to address the incident that occurred early this morning in which I was arrested and charged with DUI. I fully understand the seriousness of this matter and the disappointment that many may feel. I am truly sorry for the concern this has caused our community, my colleagues on the City Council, and our city staff. Serving the people of Cape Coral is an honor, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I intend to cooperate fully with the legal process as this matter moves forward. Out of respect for that process, I cannot comment further on any specifics at this time. I sincerely apologize for the distraction this creates for our city and the important work before us. I understand that trust between the public and their elected officials must be earned, and I am committed to working to restore that trust through my actions.”

Kaduk is scheduled for her first court appearance on January 5.

Cape Coral councilwoman Rachel Kaduk faced charges after police stopped her for driving recklessly on Tuesday night. According to…

[14
209,211,210,325
0":"post-88841","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cape-coral","8":"tag-cape-coral","9":"tag-cape-coral-headlines","10":"tag-cape-coral-news","11":"tag-lee
["GET
