Tradition Prep<\/a> had won seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-0 to make it eight. They blew past the Port St. Lucie Jaguars<\/a> 73-53. The Pirates’ offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they’ve scored all season.<\/p>\n Tradition Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Chevres<\/a> out in front who went 11-for-18 to rack up 29 points. Chevres has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he’s played. Another player making a difference was Aydan Fields<\/a>, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds.<\/p>\n Tradition Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.<\/p>\n As for Port St. Lucie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. While losing is never fun, they can’t take it too hard given the team’s big disadvantage in MaxPreps’ Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Tradition Prep is ranked 79th).<\/p>\n Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Alexis<\/a>, who shot 47% from the field en route to 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Illisha Johnson<\/a>, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.<\/p>\n Tradition Prep didn’t take long to hit the court again: they’ve already played their next game, a 74-53 win against Westwood on the 15th. Port St. Lucie and Jensen Beach will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars’ defense better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 57.9 points per game this season.<\/p>\n
