To the editor:<\/p>\n
The Department of Education has redefined professional degrees for the purposes of student loan qualifications, under the new rules that are j the \u201cbig beautiful bill.\u201d <\/p>\n
I am so concerned that the U.S. will have more of a healthcare shortage than we have now because student loans are not available for the speciality that students chose as their life\u2019s work.<\/p>\n
The list is long and includes occupational therapist, physical therapists, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, audiologists, speech therapists, teachers including some master \u2018s programs, social workers, architects , public health and accountants<\/p>\n
The student loan eligibility and limits in the student loans will not interfere with professional validation or quality of the degrees. Licensing will continue in each of the states.<\/p>\n
The consequences of this measure will result in more limits to healthcare for the general population .<\/p>\n
The professionals are working overtime as to keep people healthy, working with strained budgets, insurance company restrictions,<\/p>\n
Changes in regulations and reimbursement.<\/p>\n
As a heath care professional, I forsee a huge shift in the availability of credible practitioners. This is not right!<\/p>\n
