The Lee County Community Band. PROVIDED<\/p>\n

The Lee County Community Band<\/a>\u2018s winter concert,\u00a0\u201cNew Year \u2013 Traditions and New Beginnings!\u201d, will be held\u00a0Sunday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m.,\u00a0at\u00a0Mariner High School\u00a0in Cape Coral. Admission is\u00a0free.<\/p>\n

Under the direction of\u00a0Gil Peltola, the band will present a dynamic program of classic marches, Broadway highlights, beloved movie themes, Motown, Disney favorites and a lively audience sing-along.<\/p>\n

The performance continues the band\u2019s storied heritage as one of the\u00a0oldest continuously operating community bands in the United States, tracing its origins to the\u00a0Fort Myers Brass Band more than 130 years ago.<\/p>\n

Remaining concerts for this season are\u00a0Feb. 15, March 15 and April 12.\u00a0\u00a0All concerts are\u00a0free\u00a0and begin at\u00a03 p.m., also at Mariner High School.<\/p>\n

The Lee County Community Band<\/a> was initially formed on Nov. 21, 1885, under the name of the Fort Myers Brass Band. The band known today as the Lee County Community Band was incorporated as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization in 1982. There have been many changes along the way. Still, one thing has been kept constant-our commitment to bring quality musical entertainment to the Lee County Community and to never charge a fee to attend our concerts. It performs six concerts each season, which runs from November to April, to a near-capacity audience at Mariner High School\u2019s auditorium at 701 Chiquita Blvd., N<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Lee County Community Band.
