Voting for the Cape Coral Breeze Athlete of the Month for December is now open. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
There were a number of top performances from student-athletes in the Breeze coverage area and now it\u2019s up to our readers to decide who will earn top honors for the month. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
Nominees for December include:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Alessandro Gonzalez, Senior, Mariner Tritons: The Triton striker had his biggest game of the season in a win against Gateway, netting five goals and adding an assist. At the time Gonzalez was tied for the team lead in goals scored with 15 through 15 games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Hailey Peterson, Junior, Cape Coral Seahawks: The Seahawk had a memorable performance in a win against Port Charlotte, netting a hat trick in a 9-0 win. Peterson followed that match scoring another goal in a victory over the Island Coast Gators.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Callhan Bexfield, Sophomore, Oasis Sharks: The Shark had a breakout game in a win over Dunbar, netting 26 points and adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Bexfield is averaging more than 10 points per game in the young season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Kamila Pena, Senior, Mariner Tritons: The senior captain helped the Tritons to two wins during her nomination week, totaling two goals and two assists, including a highlight reel goal against Cape Coral.<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Caroline Ward, Junior, Bishop Verot Vikings: The Viking helped lead her team to a pair of wins during her nomination week, leading the way on the scoresheet netting 19 points and 16 points in the contests.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2022 \u00a0 Hannah Busenbark, Senior, North Fort Myers Red Knight: Busenbark became the 5th\u00a0Red Knight in school history to score 100 goals in her career. She reached the century mark scoring three goals in a win over Island Coast on Senior Night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
