Chinese takeout food delivers more than just containers filled with piping hot wonton soup, savory fried rice and egg foo young smothered in gravy.<\/p>\n
For many, it\u2019s comforting, convenient \u2014 and a popular culinary choice during the holiday season.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why we asked you, our readers, to tell us your favorite go-to spots for the last installment in this year\u2019s Best of South Florida Dining series.<\/p>\n
After a two-week nomination round<\/a>, with the opportunity to rave about your must-order dishes and appetizers, we now have\u00a0the top five finalists. They are, in alphabetical order:<\/p>\n What the readers say<\/p>\n In her nomination form for Bamboo Wok, diner Annette Bartol said she orders a house specialty for either lunch or dinner at the Boca Raton location. \u201cHappy Family, very flavorful and full of different meats and shrimp,\u201d the Boca Raton resident wrote.<\/p>\n Fran Schwartz, of Lauderhill, heads to Hong Kong City BBQ for two dishes: crispy boneless duck and Cantonese shrimp and wonton soup. She lauded the soup\u2019s \u201crich broth and fresh bok choy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI pick up the bowl to drain every last drop,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s enough for four servings.\u201d<\/p>\n For the duck dish, she substitutes snow peas for broccoli and dips it into sweet-and-sour or hoisin sauce.<\/p>\n \u201cI could also go on about HKCBBQ\u2019s Peking duck, because it\u2019s scrumptious!\u201d she added in her form.<\/p>\n At Lotus Chinese Kitchen, Pompano Beach resident Charlie Siegel said he must have the barbecue spare ribs because they\u2019re \u201cthe best in town.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey are meaty, moist and flavorful but not fatty or greasy,\u201d he wrote. He also likes their moo shu chicken and fried rice for dinner.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, for Oakland Park resident Angel Bailey, the mandatory dish at SunRice Chinese Restaurant is the \u201cdelicious\u201d beef chow mein.<\/p>\n \u201cFull of beef and veggies cooked just right in their brown sauce with generous serving of pork fried rice,\u201d Bailey said.<\/p>\n In her nomination form for Wan\u2019s, Fort Lauderdale resident Suzan Pollack wrote that she loves the shrimp with lobster sauce: \u201cThe sauce is perfectly seasoned and served with plenty of jumbo shrimp, also perfectly cooked.\u201d<\/p>\n She also orders the \u201clight and fluffy\u201d steamed dumplings,\u201d wonton soup and fried rice.<\/p>\n Let the voting begin<\/p>\n So, which restaurant on the list do you think deserves to be named the best?
