\nThe Community House will hold its Monthly Social on Dec. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sanibel.<\/p>\n
Tickets are available for a holiday gathering that offers a fun twist for the islands community.<\/p>\n
The Community House (TCH) will host its Monthly Social on Dec. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sanibel. Kicked off in October and running through April, the events feature themed activities and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cMonthly community socials are something that we have done in the past and wanted to bring back,\u201d Executive Director Emily Ankerson said, noting that they have also held them over the summer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity for people to come together,\u201d she added of the casual, affordable activity.<\/p>\n
For December, the theme will be a spin on \u201cFestivus for the rest of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a festive holiday party inspired by the famed sitcom \u2018Seinfeld,’\u201d Ankerson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s silly and fun,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Attendees will have a chance to take part in Festivus-inspired activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m hoping that we\u2019ll have Festivus pole,\u201d Ankerson said.<\/p>\n
There may be an \u201cairing of grievances\u201d with notes for people to write complaints on, like the bothersome no-see-ums, that they can then attach to a clothesline \u2014 or instead share their Festivus miracles, such as finding a great parking spot. Another option is some fun \u201cfeats of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thinking of having an arm wrestling station,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
There will also be a craft table.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople can decorate shells,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cSo we\u2019ll put those out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Attire to fit the event is invited.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re encouraging holiday festive attire or ugly sweaters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
If there are enough participants, they will hold an ugly sweater contest with prizes.<\/p>\n
Danny Morgan will provide live entertainment.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a local musician, he lives on the island,\u201d Ankerson said. \u201cHe is a longtime island favorite.\u201d<\/p>\n
ACT Catering and Boards will serve sliders and hot dogs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have some things to complement that, like potato salad and chips,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
A cash bar will be available.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have a specialty drink to go with the theme,\u201d Ankerson said.<\/p>\n
Attendees will also have a shot at door prizes.<\/p>\n
R.L.R. Investments is the sponsor for the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey help to make all of our programs possible for the season,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The cost is $10 for members or $20 for nonmembers.<\/p>\n
Tickets include a slider or hot dog and one free drink.<\/p>\n
The community is invited to secure their spot.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a fun way for people in the community to get together,\u201d Ankerson said, noting that the event will take place between Christmas and New Year\u2019s. \u201cSo it\u2019s almost like an early New Year\u2019s party.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd there\u2019s a theme if people want to get involved with that,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
