HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) – After Harvey\u2019s Supermarket closed earlier this month, Piggly Wiggly Fresh for Less is now operating out of the same building in Havana.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re just so pleased that they have opened up so quick,\u201d Havana resident Dewayne Shepard said. \u201cThis grocery store is a community necessity that we have here.\u201d <\/p>\n
The owners of the Piggly Wiggly said they were able to transform the store within about two weeks of the previous store closing, which was sooner than they expected. <\/p>\n

Shepard said it was shocking to see Harvey\u2019s closing when the holidays were quickly approaching. \u201cWe were concerned when the store closed down and we were right here at Christmas time,\u201d he said. \u201cWe really rely on this grocery store for dinner and all our groceries.\u201d <\/p>\n
With some people having limited transportation, Shepard said a grocery store is critical for the town. \u201cThe nearest grocery store is at least 15 or more miles away,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s really important.\u201d <\/p>\n
The store opened Monday morning and was filled with shoppers throughout the day.<\/p>\n
