{"id":93144,"date":"2025-12-23T00:22:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T00:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/93144\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T00:22:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T00:22:10","slug":"auction-for-historic-grand-lady-hollywood-beach-resort-gets-postponed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/93144\/","title":{"rendered":"Auction for historic \u2018Grand Lady\u2019 Hollywood Beach Resort gets postponed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0December 22, 2025 at 4:01 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0December 22, 2025 at 4:47 PM<\/p>\n<p>Historic Grand Lady resort in Hollywood Beach to be auctioned <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">HOLLYWOOD, Fla.  \u2014 The historic Hollywood Beach Resort, once dubbed the \u201cGrand Lady,\u201d is now a reflection of debt and disrepair. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It was scheduled to be sold at auction on Monday, but the event was postponed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s just kind of ugly and old,\u201d said Eddie Stapleton, a Hollywood resident. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to a public notice, the company that owns units there and another property in Pompano Beach is in nearly $22 million in debt. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The winning bidder would assume ownership of the limited liability company holding the real estate. The Mediterranean-style resort was part of Hollywood\u2019s original plan by city founder Joseph Young.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It was made with poured concrete from Belgium and dubbed the 90-day wonder in 1925.
