I really appreciate this.” Her 6-year-old son, Kai, who had his scooter stolen last year, was thrilled to receive a new one. Kai told WESH 2 he was so excited about getting a new scooter.All the children also received helmets to ensure their safety.The scooters were made possible through donations, and Cherish Holiday was another happy recipient. “Cherish, go ahead, give Santa a hug. Merry Christmas, Cherish,” she was encouraged. For Commissioner Patty Sheehan, the event holds personal significance. “My parents couldn’t afford it,” she said. “And you know, when you get a chance to pay it forward for children that are hard-working parents, they just want to give their kids a good Christmas, and you know, when you get a chance to pay it forward, that’s what life is about. That’s what Christmas is all about.”Janelyx Soto, another recipient, expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m going to ride it to the park. I’m going to ride it anywhere that my mom doesn’t want to take me.” Some children couldn’t wait to try out their new scooters, showcasing their excitement.”I love doing this, we’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I want to thank all my generous sponsors, couldn’t do it without them.
