David I. Shiner of the Shiner Law Group in Boca Raton confirmed Monday afternoon, before the suspension of the search was announced, that Billmaier was a trial attorney at his law firm.<\/p>\n

The Shiner Law Group said both men were attorneys, and Billmaier went missing with Spivey, who was his uncle.<\/p>\n
“On behalf of everyone at Shiner Law Group, we are deeply saddened by the disappearance of Brandon and his uncle, Randy. Brandon is a valued member of our firm and someone we care about tremendously, both as a colleague and as our friend. Brandon is an exceptional person and a great lawyer, and we are heartbroken,\u201d Shiner said in a statement Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The Coast Guard said its search covered 6,700 miles, which is about the size of the state of Connecticut.<\/p>\n
The men were reported overdue at Coast Guard Sector in St. Petersburg at 8 p.m. Dec. 19. <\/p>\n
At midnight on Dec. 20, their boat was found adrift by a Coast Guard helicopter and still in gear about 70 miles west of Fort Myers.<\/p>\n

According to his bio on the Shiner Law Group website, Billmaier was born in Ohio and raised in Michigan. <\/p>\n
Billmaier earned his bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Toledo.<\/p>\n
Away from work, Billmaier enjoyed fishing and lobstering in the Florida Keys, was an avid pickleball player, maintained a healthy lifestyle, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.<\/p>\n
