Gulf Coast Gallery, a series of rotating art exhibits created by Gulf Coast Village<\/a> \u2013 Cape Coral\u2019s only life plan community \u2013 and the North Fort Myers Arts Association, will launch its newest art exhibit, \u201cBrush Hour,\u201d on Wednesday, Jan. 14.<\/p>\n \u201cBrush Hour\u201d will showcase a diverse collection of artwork from Gulf Coast Village\u2019s own resident artists, as well as artists from the NFMAA. The exhibit\u2019s featured artist is Al Trusko, an independent living resident at Gulf Coast Village with a lifelong passion for art.<\/p>\n Encouraged in high school to pursue his passion through a career in art, he earned a degree in fine arts from Ohio University. He went on to teach art to junior high and high school students for 28 years. He previously had an art business and would sell his work to gift shops. Trusko\u2019s primary mediums include drawing or painting with watercolors and acrylics.<\/p>\n \u201cArt was my whole livelihood,\u201d said Trusko. \u201cI grew up with it [art]. I made a little painting that they hung in the elementary school office.\u201d<\/p>\n In a vibrant display of color in Gulf Coast Village\u2019s elevator lobby, the exhibit will feature watercolor, acrylics and oils. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the local art, meet the artists, shop pieces from local artists and indulge in wine and light refreshments at the gallery\u2019s opening.<\/p>\n The artist meet and greet will begin at 2 p.m. on Jan. 14, and the exhibit will be open to the public from Jan. 14 to Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gulf Coast Gallery is at Gulf Coast Village at 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd. in Cape Coral<\/a>.
