Beaches Chamber goes thumbs down on bridge tolls plan<\/p>\n
The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce has issued the following statement about a proposal to institute tolls on all bridges to Pinellas County beaches<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce firmly opposes the proposal to install tolls on all bridges providing access to our beaches. Our member businesses \u2014 many of which are small, locally owned establishments \u2014 rely on convenient, reliable, and affordable access for residents, employees, and visitors alike.<\/p>\n
\u201cImplementing tolls on these critical access points would create unnecessary obstacles for the very businesses that drive our region\u2019s economy. Increased costs and delays will discourage local visitation, burden workers who travel to and from the beaches daily, and create a negative ripple effect on hospitality, retail, service providers, and many other small enterprises that depend on steady customer flow.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur beaches are not only a destination but a community. Adding tolls would impose a barrier between local businesses and the customers they serve, undermining economic vitality in an area that thrives on accessibility. The Chamber stands for policies that support \u2014 not hinder \u2014 the success and sustainability of our business community.<\/p>\n
