HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Hollywood police have identified a person of interest in the death of a woman found on Hollywood Beach on Friday morning. <\/p>\n

Detectives say they now believe the parties involved in the incident were known to each other and have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.<\/p>\n

The investigation began shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday when a passerby discovered the woman’s body on the sand near Cleveland Street, according to previous reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hollywood Fire Rescue says they responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead. Following an initial assessment, authorities confirmed that foul play is suspected and the case is being treated as a homicide.<\/p>\n

While the victim\u2019s identity has been confirmed by investigators, her name is being withheld while authorities work to notify next of kin. <\/p>\n

Police have not yet released the name of the person of interest or details regarding a potential motive.<\/p>\n
