St. Pete PD said the driver accused of speeding did not properly use their seat belt, had an active warrant and had a suspended license.<\/p>\n
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 One person died, and multiple people were injured after a car crash took place involving a speeding vehicle driven by someone with a suspended license, according to St. Pete police.<\/p>\n
Officers say this happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a driver in a Mitsubishi Outlander was going northbound on Dr Martin Luther King Jr Street North, crossing North Frontage Road and crossed a green light traffic signal.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a blue Dodge Charger driven by 31-year-old Izell Shelby was going westbound at a reported high rate of speed on North Frontage Road.<\/p>\n
Shelby did not stop at the oncoming red light and hit the Mitsubishi in the intersection, officials said.<\/p>\n
Shelby was later taken to the hospital where they were later pronounced dead. The other driver and three passengers were also taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
St. Pete PD said Shelby did not properly use their seat belt, had an active warrant and had a suspended license.<\/p>\n
