{"id":9832,"date":"2025-10-18T13:28:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T13:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/9832\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T13:28:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T13:28:11","slug":"hurricane-center-continues-tracking-2-systems-with-chance-to-develop-orlando-sentinel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/9832\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane center continues tracking 2 systems with chance to develop \u2013 Orlando Sentinel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hurricane Center on Saturday continued to track a pair of systems with a low chance to develop into the season\u2019s next tropical depression or storm.<\/p>\n<p>As of the NHC\u2019s 8 a.m. tropical outlook, the biggest threat to land was a tropical wave about 800 miles east of the Caribbean\u2019s Windward Islands with a large area of showers and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGradual development of this system is possible during the next several days while it moves generally westward at around 20 mph,\u201d forecasters said. \u201cRegardless of development, this system is expected to bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to the Windward Islands Sunday and Sunday night, then move across the Caribbean Sea through much of next week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NHC gave it a near 0% chance to develop in the next two days and 30% chance to develop in the next seven.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NHC Tropical Weather Outlook (Fri, Oct 17, 2025)<\/p>\n<p>NHC Senior Hurricane Specialist Jack Beven and Meteorologist Matt Onderlinde discuss the development potential of a tropical wave that is expected to move into the Caribbean Sea early next week.  Be sure to visit\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OiCy6GnJvu\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/OiCy6GnJvu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 National Hurricane Center (@NHC_Atlantic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHC_Atlantic\/status\/1979259089604485568?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 17, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second system was a nontropical area of low pressure located several hundred miles east-northeast of Bermuda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a slight chance that the system could develop some subtropical characteristics through tonight before it turns northeastward over cooler waters on Sunday,\u201d forecasters said,<\/p>\n<p>The NHC gave it a 10% chance to develop in the next two to seven days.<\/p>\n<p>If either were to develop into a named storm, they could become Tropical or Subtropical Storm Melissa.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 12 named storms this year, four have grown into hurricanes, and three of those became major hurricanes.
