Whatever you\u2019ve got planned for New Year\u2019s Eve, it\u2019s always nice to know that some things never change \u2013 somewhere around here, at the stroke of midnight, there will be fireworks.<\/p>\n

The City of St. Petersburg\u2019s got it going on, right there on and around the St. Pete Pier. Starting at 8 p.m. Wednesday, there\u2019ll be lights, noise, an onstage DJ, food and beverage trucks, everything required for a big, fun, loud public celebration.<\/p>\n

Fireworks over Tampa Bay begin at midnight.<\/p>\n

Admission is free, although tickets are available for seating in a special reserved area.<\/p>\n

In addition, all PSTA bus routes, including the SunRunner and Spark, will be free on New Year\u2019s Eve. Routes 4, 18, 34, and 52 will also run until 1 a.m. Here\u2019s route and schedule info<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There will also be free midnight fireworks displays on Treasure Island (near Gulf Front Park, 10400 Gulf Blvd) and by Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach.<\/p>\n

Non-fireworks<\/p>\n

Catch the touring production of the Tony-winning musical The Outsiders at the Straz Center\u2019s Morsani Hall tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 30) through Sunday. There are even performances New Year\u2019s Eve and New Year\u2019s Day. Showtimes and tickets are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Big band concert: The Glenn Miller Orchestra plays a 3 p.m. concert Wednesday at the Mahaffey Theater. Find details and tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Waltz band concert: A Clearwater tradition continues with Wednesday\u2019s performance in Ruth Eckerd Hall from the Strauss Symphony of America; the 8 p.m. event is called Salute to Vienna New Year\u2019s Concert.
