STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police have identified Jean Victorin, 66, of West Brighton, as the victim in a pedestrian crash that occurred earlier this month on South Avenue.

According to the NYPD, on Sunday, Jan. 4, at approximately 1:54 p.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on South Avenue near Forest Avenue.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2014 Audi Q5, operated by a 22-year-old male, was traveling southbound on South Avenue when he struck Victorin as he crossed in the middle of the block, police said.

Victorin sustained a non-life-threatening head injury and was transported by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, according to the NYPD. The driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, Victorin’s condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
