The residents of Staten Island went out (Monday) night for a vigil for those killed by ICE agents in 2025 and now in 2026. Many groups participated, including faith leaders from around the Island. It was held in front of Rep. (Nicole) Malliotakis’ office, since she is in support of Trump’s deportation policy.

I was astonished by the amount of hate that was spewed in comments on that article. Are these our neighbors? Do they hate so much that any protest gets their ire up and they spew hate?

All faith leaders should be speaking out from their pulpits about hate and how it rots the soul.

I only hope that some of these comments are by “bots” or people who do not live here. I’d hate to imagine that these are our neighbors.

It is the right of every American to speak out against policies they want changed. Let those who spew hate stand up and speak intelligently about the issues.
