Jewish Consciousness, a solo exhibition by Samuel Abelow, will take place at the Maor Gallery at Chabad Heights in Brooklyn on Sunday.
After several years immersed in the Chassidic life and culture of Crown Heights, Samuel Abelow presents a selection of paintings created during that time—works that explore and express Jewish Consciousness.
Drawing from lived experience as a Jew, the exhibition engages themes found in Chabad-Chassidic texts, including the teachings of the Rebbe, while re-imagining moments in art history through a distinctly Jewish lens. These paintings emerge from Shabbat tables, yeshiva hallways, Kingston Avenue conversations, and an ongoing spiritual journey rooted in community.
This exhibition is an invitation—to rabbis, friends, seekers, and neighbors—to gather through art. To those who have shared meals, ideas, questions, and paths, this show offers a space where artwork becomes a meeting point for souls.
From Maimonides to the pomegranate, Jewish Consciousness is an ode to Jewish life in Crown Heights—its longing for an eternal home, and its hope for peace across the earth.
