Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center (MECCC) hosted its annual free breast cancer screening event at its Breast Care Center at 1250 Waters Place, in the east Bronx on Saturday, Oct. 11, to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In New York, approximately 16,700 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. MECCC’s goal through its year-round free screenings, clinical care, and research is to reduce the incidence of cancer, and when cancer is found, to treat it at a stage when the disease is most curable.
According to Montefiore Einstein, MECCC is among the elite one percent of National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S., and is ranked in the top one percent of all U.S. hospitals for cancer care, according to U.S. News & World Report.
