Dalton started five games for the Panthers last season after Young was benched early in the campaign.
Asked how the Panthers will pivot if Young cannot play in Week 8, Canales expressed confidence in Dalton.
“We’ll look at all that and see what the best version of us is, but right now it’s running the football, and Andy can handle all those things,” Canales said. “The pass game, the reps, the time on task with the group that we have, we’ve got to stay within the core of our system. Andy’s fully involved in all that. If he does play, that’ll be the mode.”
Carolina (4-3) hosts the Buffalo Bills (4-2) next Sunday.
