For this year’s National Pizza Month, DoorDash is cooking up a (controversial) pizza showdown.
By analyzing thousands of customer ratings and reviews from January through September, the delivery company is celebrating a list of the most popular local pizzerias in New York — a list that somehow does not include any Staten Island-based pizza joints.
(How are you going to go disrespect Denino’s like that? Why would anyone leave Lee’s Tavern out in the cold? What did Joe and Pat’s ever do to anyone?)
DoorDash claims their mission is to grow and empower local economies, which starts with celebrating local merchants.
These pizzerias aren’t just places to grab a slice: they’re neighborhood anchors, family traditions and entrepreneurial success stories. Every order fuels their growth and keeps communities connected, the company stated.
“Pizza brings people together, from friends watching a game to kids celebrating a birthday. Every region and chef puts their own spin on a classic, and that creativity is what makes it so special,” said Ruth Isenstadt, Head of U.S. Restaurants at DoorDash.
“These local pizzerias help create memories around the table, and National Pizza Month is the perfect chance to enjoy your go-to favorite or try something new,” she added.

Cosimo’s Brick Oven – Middletown
F&F Pizzeria – Brooklyn, NY
Good Guys Pizza – North Tonawanda, NY
Joe’s Pizza – Manhattan, NY
One Pie Pizza – Buffalo, NY
Pizza Wizard – Rochester, NY
Rubirosa Pizza & Ristorante – Manhattan, NY
The Pizzeria – Islip, NY
Tino’s Pizzeria – Oneonta, NY
Back on the Island, according to recent SILive.com reader polls, Pizzeria Giove, Brother’s Pizzeria and Royal Pizza were voted the top three best places for specialty pizza on Staten Island for 2024.
These winners were chosen based on reader votes in a “Best of Staten Island” poll and are acknowledged for their outstanding specialty pies.
