NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Commuters traveling between New York City and Long Island may have to find some travel alternatives for two weekends in January.
There will be no weekend service for Long Island Rail Road stations in Brooklyn on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18, and again on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. Service will end at 10:45 p.m. on Friday and will resume at 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
To accommodate, LIRR riders can show their tickets at select subway stations for free entry. However, there will also be no J train service between Jamaica and Brooklyn.
Free entry subway stations for LIRR riders
34 St-Penn Station – Nos. 2 and 3 trains
34 St-Penn Station – A and C trains
Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr – No. 2, No. 3, D, N, Q, and R trains
Nostrand Av – A and C trains
Broadway Junction – A and C trains
The service changes come as a result of track maintenance between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal stations.
