NEW YORK (PIX11) — Snow and rain are expected to put a damper on the weekend of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The National Weather Service warns travelers to use extra caution if they plan to venture out into the wintry mix this weekend. Areas throughout New York can expect to see accumulations between 1 and 3 inches, according to PIX11 forecasters.
Expected snow accumulations for NYC, Long Island, Westchester, and Hudson Valley
Residents in New York City and Nassau County will likely see less than an inch of snow accumulation, while parts of Westchester could get up to an inch and a half of snow, NWS shows.
Further up, parts of the Hudson Valley could get 4 inches or more of accumulation, PIX11 meteorologists forecast.

Snow timeline
According to the National Weather Service, rain and snow will alternate over New York on Saturday until at least 4 p.m. After a brief pause at night, a second round of the wintry mix is expected for early Sunday until about 4 p.m.
Rain will give way to all snow for the rest of Sunday afternoon until 1 a.m. Monday morning.
The clouds are expected to finally clear on Monday, offering some sun with highs near 35 degrees.
