1. NYC nurses strike stretches into eighth day

The largest nurses strike in New York City history stretched into its eighth day Tuesday, with contract negotiations stalled and no timeline for talks to resume.

Hospital systems are relying on temporary and agency nurses while blaming the union for the impasse, a claim union leaders dispute.

Contract talks between the hospitals and the nurses union did not continue over the weekend, and it remains unclear when the next bargaining session will be for any of the impacted hospitals.

2. Mamdani revives controversial ‘Just Home’ housing project in the Bronx

A controversial supportive housing project in the Bronx is moving forward after months of delays tied to safety concerns and political opposition.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the “Just Home” project will be built on the Jacobi Hospital campus, creating 83 units of supportive housing for formerly incarcerated New Yorkers with serious medical needs. The plan was paused last fall after objections from local officials and the Adams administration.

3. Buffalo Bills fire head coach Sean McDermott after playoff loss to Broncos

The Buffalo Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott on Tuesday, ending a nine-year run that transformed the franchise but fell short of a Super Bowl.

Owner Terry Pegula made the move following another playoff disappointment, a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos. General manager Brandon Beane was promoted to president of football operations and will lead the search for a new coach.
