UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) — New Yorkers will soon see a major upgrade to Dept. of Motor Vehicles services as the agency prepares to launch a new technology system.
All DMV offices will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, with online and phone services also unavailable during the transition.
DMV operations are expected to fully resume at the start of business on Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to NYSDMV.Â
The department said the new system will let employees handle transactions on one secure platform, add more online services, and make future technology upgrades easier.
People who need to renew a license or non-driver ID, or complete other transactions before Feb. 13, are encouraged to use the online options on the DMV website.
Updates will be posted on DMV’s social media channels before and after the system comes back online.
Another major upgrade is planned for 2028, according to officials.Â
