Brooklyn Beckham posted a series of Instagram Stories in January 2026 explaining why he is estranged from parents David and Victoria Beckham.He detailed an alleged family feud which began around the time of his 2022 wedding to actress and heiress Nicola Peltz.Brooklyn specifically stated that Victoria “cancelled making Nicola’s [wedding] dress in the eleventh hour” and “hijacked [his] first dance” with Nicola.
Almost four years after Brooklyn Beckham married Nicola Peltz, their wedding continues to be at the center of a rumored family feud between the Cloud23 founder and his famous parents.
Brooklyn took to his Instagram Stories on January 19, 2026 to explain his estrangement from dad David Beckham, mom Victoria Beckham, and his siblings. In his lengthy Stories, the chef made several statements about his 2022 wedding to Peltz, an actress and daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he began.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” he continued. Later in his Stories, he returned to alleged drama between himself, Nicola, and Victoria at the wedding. “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” Brooklyn wrote (via People), adding, “[Victoria] danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”

Victoria Beckham wore a metallic slip dress to son Brooklyn’s wedding.
The womenswear maven donned one of her own designs for the wedding: a silver, liquid-like metallic slip dress. According to Vogue, the mother of the groom’s look was inspired by “the reflection of moonlight on the ocean at night.” At the bust and along the sides, the dress gained additional dimension with three French laces embroidered onto the main fabric.
There was, of course, an outfit change. Per Vogue, Victoria donned a “black pre-fall number” as a second look sometime during the celebrations—one that went on sale in June 2022.

In an interview with Variety a few months after her 2022 wedding to Brooklyn, Nicola set the record straight on rumors she was feuding with her new mother-in-law. “I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,” she said at the time.
In his 2026 Instagram Stories, Brooklyn revisited the rumored feud over Victoria designing Nicola’s dress, writing, “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
Nicola ultimately wore Valentino Haute Couture for their star-studded Florida nuptials. According to British Vogue, she and former Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli worked on her wedding dress for a year. “It was a no-brainer,” the Bates Motel alum told the outlet of choosing Piccioli to create her dream gown.
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows in 2025, seemingly without his family present.
As Brooklyn shared in his Instagram Stories about his estrangement from his family, per People, he and Nicola “wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
On August 2, 2025, they held a vow renewal ceremony. A week later, the couple shared pictures from their second ‘I do’s’ in a joint Instagram post captioned, “only love 🤍.” Victoria and David were noticeably absent from the vow renewal. Nicola shared additional photos to her Instagram showing her father, Nelson, officiating the ceremony. The final photo in her post featured her family and friends. “[T]his day meant so much to us 🤍” she wrote in her caption.
