Queens Road Medical Practice is strengthening its team of skilled medical professionals by appointing its first in-house paediatric specialist consultant.

Dr Neele Hamilton (pictured) is an experienced Consultant Paediatrician on the GMC Specialist Register who has joined Queens Road after working in clinical research in Berlin and South Africa, focusing on childhood tuberculosis; she has completed a postgraduate course in infectious diseases in East Africa.

Most recently, Dr Hamilton has focused on paediatrics within a primary care setting. She offers consultations for infants, children and young people under the age of 18 relating to acute and long-term conditions, and is committed to developing specialist children’s services within the practice.

Dr Hamilton studied medicine in Berlin, completed postgraduate training in Kent, and undertook specialist paediatric training in Germany. She places strong emphasis on preventive child healthcare and can provide developmental checks for patients at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months, with annual reviews up to school age. As part of her specialism, she is trained in the use of ultrasound as a supportive diagnostic tool.

Rob Jordan, Practice Manager, said: “We are proud to welcome Dr Neele to the team, as for the first time we are bringing specialist-level expertise to your familiar GP Surgery setting for preventative care, acute and long-term health conditions. This is great news for our patients and will provide peace of mind for those responsible for the health and well-being of patients under the age of 18.”

Dr Hamilton said: “I am committed to providing high-quality healthcare to the island community through my special interests in asthma, eczema, allergies, recurrent abdominal pain, headache assessment and management as well as preventive child healthcare. My family and I have recently relocated to Guernsey, and I can’t wait to explore the island’s natural beauty as we make a new home here.”
