NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11) — Although outdoor temperatures are expected to rise in the next few days, an influx of arctic air is predicted to hit New York City this weekend, increasing the likelihood of more snow, according to the National Weather Service.

The latest prediction indicates that the New York City area could see around four to six inches of snow.

The cold air will start settling in on Friday night, as temperatures drop to around 10 degrees. Wind chills on Friday could be 0 to -15 degrees.

Arctic air is expected to settle over the region on Saturday, but snow is not anticipated until Sunday. Forecasters indicate a 50 to 70 percent chance of receiving over 6 inches.

Frigid conditions will persist through Sunday night, as daytime temperatures are not expected to exceed the mid-teens.
