STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Those who know Peter Timmins best remember him as a bruising, tough-as-nails linebacker who starred for Curtis High School and the University of Maryland back in the day.
But the 6-foot-4 Timmins, who was inducted into the Warriors’ football ring of honor last fall and also serves as a color commentator for Shaolin Sports, will tell you his toughness pales in comparison to his wife, Sara, these days.
Sara Timmins, a 33-year-old mother of two, is battling breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
There are various fundraisers taking place to offset medical costs and out-of-work expenses.
50/50 raffle tickets and bracelets can be purchased to support Sara Timmins. The 50/50 is $20 per ticket and can be obtained via Venmo @SaraStrongSINY.
In addition, there will be a walk on Feb. 1 at Hart Boulevard by the Silver Lake Tennis Courts. It will begin at 11 a.m.
There are plenty of individuals to contact if you wish to purchase a 50/50 ticket or bracelet, as well as make a larger donation.
Contacts include Luke Timmins (347-517-5004), John Venturella (917-545-5416), Jesse Klipp (718-759-7804), Terrence Haggerty (646-423-1160), Ray Palma (646-824-4195), Anthony Mascia (917-642-7505) or Kevin Heiden (917-589-2029).
