Major Winter Storm Traversing The Nation

The Weather Channel is tracking a big winter storm moving across the country that forecasters say will bring “…widespread snow and a potentially damaging ice storm…” for many. While the current track is predicting heavy snow in the mid-Atlantic states and ice areas south, how will New York be affected by this one?

It appears that this storm will affect us in some way, but if you are hoping for huge snow, you may be disappointed. We should see some level of snow in the greater Albany area, but how much we get will all depend on the final track of the storm.

The Weather Channel is looking at different weather models that could bring anywhere from 8 inches to a foot or more in areas downstate, with a possibility of 5 to 8 inches and maybe more for areas in Upstate New York and around the Capital Region.

Our local forecasters at News Channel 13 are also saying the jury is still out on this one, but agree it will track close enough to bring the region some snow.

The storm is expected to pass over New York state on Sunday, and we should have a more defined prediction of local snowfall potential closer to the weekend.
