Donna Luisi, 82, passed away Jan. 18, 2026, after a long illness. A lifelong Staten Island resident, she was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Manhattan and grew up in Dongan Hills. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Notre Dame College for Women and a Master’s in Theory of Education, dedicating over 40 years to education. She taught at IS 49 for more than 28 years before becoming an administrator at PS 18 in 1994, ultimately retiring as principal in 2010. She is survived by her son, Joseph Luisi and his wife Lisa, daughter Emily Russo and her husband Keith, and four granddaughters. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years. Michael P. Heaney, 64, a lifelong resident of New Dorp, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Jan. 17, 2026. A graduate of New Dorp High School, he earned his funeral director’s license in 1981 and dedicated his professional life to funeral service. In 1983, he founded Michael P. Heaney Funeral Services, Inc., serving Staten Island families with deep commitment. Beyond his professional achievements, Michael devoted considerable time to supporting others in recovery through the 12-step program. He remained a lifelong New York Knicks fan and was an avid animal lover. He is survived by his siblings Todd, Daniel, Michele, and Ryan, as well as seven nieces and nephews.
