Former New York state Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal was elected Manhattan borough president in November, leaving open the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Last week, Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins named state Sen. Luis SepĂșlveda as the new chair of the committee. SepĂșlveda, who represents the 32nd Senate District in the Bronx, is the first Latino to hold the position.

He joined Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter to discuss the new role. Â
