SOUNDVIEW, Bronx (WABC) — Police found an unattended baby inside a Dunkin’ Donuts in the Bronx on Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the store at 1791 Westchester Ave just after 8 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about a child left alone.

Authorities say the unattended 3 to 4-month-old baby boy was inside a stroller and conscious and alert.

The child was taken to the 43rd precinct where he was returned to his mother.

Officials say the mother was with another child believed to be 6 or 7 years old. When she stepped out of the restaurant to deal with an issue with that child, she inadvertently left the baby behind.

When she realized she left the baby inside, she ran back to get him, but by that point, someone had called police and the baby was taken to the precinct.

It does not appear there is any criminality involved.

It comes the day after a newborn baby was found abandoned in a stairwell leading to a subway platform at Penn Station on Monday.
