BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Kareem Nesbitt scored a game-high 21 points and Petrides built a double-digit, second-quarter lead en route to a 59-42 non-league decision over host Fort Hamilton on Wednesday.

The Panthers, who also received 15 points from leading scorer Daynell Rowland, improved to 5-12 overall. Petrides has won two straight.

Kendry Sanchez (13 points) and Dawsen Lay (10 points) paced the Tigers.

The Panthers trailed 18-16 after one period, but they exploded for 24 second-quarter markers to take control. Nesbitt scored 10 points, Rowland added six and Aiden Gonzalez chipped in with a trey as the Sunnyside school took a commanding 40-25 advantage into the lockers.

Nesbitt’s seven second-half markers helped Petrides cruise the rest of the way.

Gonzalez and Jaiden Brown teamed for another 13 points for Petrides.

Dickinson 55, Tottenville 43

JERSEY CITY — Shiloh Ezderman scored a team-high 14 points and the Pirates owned a halftime lead, but the Rams stormed back in the second half to take the 3rd annual Hudson County MLK Basketball Classic victory.

Danny Garcia (nine points), Elias Souleidis (eight points) and Joe Mennella (seven points) also scored for Tottenville, which dropped to 11-8 overall.

Zaier Henry finished with a game-high 25 points for Dickinson.

Thanks in part to a combined 13 points from Ezderman and Garcia, the Pirates owned a 23-22 lead at halftime.

Head coach Kevin Alesi’s squad trailed 36-35 through three periods when the Rams saved their best for last. Henry, in fact, scored 10 fourth-quarter points, including four free throws, as Dickinson registered the double-digit win.
