NEW YORK – A powerful winter storm is expected to impact the New York City area with a preliminary forecast of 8-16 inches of snow, which could potentially cause widespread disruptions.
Regions unaccustomed to heavy snow could see some of their most significant impacts in years.
If forecasts hold, this would rank among New York City’s largest snowstorms in recent memory. Central Park has not recorded more than 12 inches of snow since February 2021, when over 17 inches fell. Snow totals are expected across New York City, the Hudson Valley, most of New Jersey and parts of Connecticut, while coastal areas may see slightly lower amounts due to periods of sleet or freezing rain.
