BROOKLYN, NY — Din Tai Fung is bringing its world-famous soup dumplings and noodles to Brooklyn, but fans might have to wait a little longer for the new spot to open.
The renowned soup dumpling chain, famous for lengthy reservation waits, has signed a lease for a sprawling 20,000-square-foot space at 567 Fulton Street, according to the Commercial Observer.
The 52-story residential tower in Downtown Brooklyn, which recently welcomed its first tenants, is a project by the Witkoff Group and Apollo Global Management.
If you haven’t heard of Din Tai Fung, it’s a Taiwanese restaurant celebrated for its soup dumplings, especially xiao long bao, which many consider top-tier. Founded in 1972, the restaurant has grown to more than 170 locations across 14 countries worldwide.
It has a strong foothold in California with 11 spots, plus locations across the West Coast and in cities like Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea and Thailand. Din Tai Fung’s menu offers a variety of steamed dumplings and buns, along with signature dishes including shrimp and pork potstickers, truffle-infused xiao long bao, sweet and sour pork baby back ribs and black pepper beef tenderloin.
Din Tai Fung opened its first East Coast location in New York City in 2024, setting up shop at 1633 Broadway between West 50th and 51st Streets. The restaurant quickly became a hit, drawing crowds after a two-year wait since the initial announcement.
Following this success, the second New York City location is already in the works, aiming for a similar timeline with an expected opening sometime in 2027, according to reports.
