Queen Camilla wore a $40,000 brooch to Ascot Racecourse that featured some symbolic gemstones.According to jewelry expert Maxwell Stone, the moonstone at the center of the brooch represents “new beginnings.”The queen’s accessory is thus being interpreted as a nod to her disgraced brother-in-law Prince Andrew.

Amid the ongoing scandal of Prince Andrew‘s association with Jeffrey Epstein, eagle-eyed royals fans are beginning to wonder if Queen Camilla‘s latest accessory isn’t a subtle nod to her brother-in-law. The monarch stepped out to attend Champions’ Day at Ascot Racecourse over the weekend wearing a $40,000 brooch that was later identified as the same one she wore this past Easter.

The brooch features a ring of diamonds surrounding what appears to be a “blue cabochon gemstone,” a.k.a. a moonstone, according to jewelry expert Maxwell Stone of Steven Stone. Moonstones are imbued with a significant degree of symbolism.

“This gem has been cherished by royalty and jewelry enthusiasts for centuries, prized for its symbolic meanings of feminine energy, new beginnings, self-awareness, calmness, intuition, and safe travel,” Stone explained. “Intriguingly, moonstone is also believed to possess the power to reunite loved ones divided by conflict.”

It is unclear where Queen Camilla sourced the jewelry or exactly how long it has been in her possession. Fans will remember that the royal debuted the piece during Ascot in 2022 shortly after her 75th birthday. She also wore it for the state visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that November, and most recently for Easter Sunday services in 2025.

The royal family is of course likely eager to embark on “new beginnings” given King Charles’s conflict with his younger brother, the former Duke of York, whom he is still hoping to evict from Royal Lodge. King Charles is simultaneously in the midst of reconciling with Prince Harry, whose feud with Prince William continues apace.
