Schools Basketball League

St. Stanislaus College secured a hard-fought victory over St. Rose’s High, while Queen’s College delivered a commanding performance against Marian Academy as the Schools Basketball League continued yesterday afternoon at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael Streets in Georgetown.

Despite a respectable turnout of supporters from both schools, the afternoon was overshadowed by the deteriorating condition of the facility. Vagrants who have taken up residence in the pavilion were present, and the playing surface was visibly filthy and neglected. The state of the venue raises concerns about player safety and the overall experience for students and spectators alike.

On the court, Saints edged St. Rose’s 48–39 in an absorbing contest that swung in momentum across all four quarters. The opening period was closely contested, with both teams trading baskets before Saints managed to hold a slim 10–9 advantage at the first break. Saints gradually pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Rose’s 11–3 to take a 21–13 lead into halftime.
