A Palestinian solidarity organisation at Queen’s University Belfast marched to the US Consulate on Saturday to ‘take a stand against the American empire’.
The QUB Palestine Assembly, which describes itself as a ‘coalition of staff and students,’ began marching from the Queen’s Students’ Union at 1pm, heading towards the US Consulate building situated on the Malone Road in south Belfast.
The group, which has been active on campus since 2023, said in a social media post that the US’ recent threats against Greenland and attacks against Venezuela, as well as its “decades long complicity in the occupation and brutalisation of the Palestinian people,” “cannot stand”.
“Every day, money which could be spent on welfare, education, healthcare, or other services desperately needed for the North are funnelled into American corporations and oligarchs,” the post read.
“Our money, our airports, and our land is being used by the United States to brutalise and occupy the world.”
