Fire Department of New York (FDNY) crews responded to a four-alarm fire at a high-rise building in the Bronx early Saturday that left at least one person dead, according to reports.

The Gothamist reported that more than a dozen people were also injured in the fire at a 17-story NYCHA apartment building, located at 3485 Bivona St.

The initial call reportedly came in as an odor of gas, but then an explosion occurred a few minutes after firefighters arrived on scene. The fire spread through multiple apartments on the 15th, 16th, and 17th floors, the report said.
