STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wherever Jim Cantore goes, you know disastrous weather is inbound.
The Weather Channel’s meteorologist has become something of a harbinger, with TikTok users across the country awaiting to see where he will land in the face of inclement weather.
Throw in Waffle House closures and TikTokers know that things are serious.
Cantore’s whereabouts were closely tracked in the lead-up to the winter storm rocking half the country — and now, as it hits, we know just where he is positioned.
For better or worse, Cantore is in New York City, reporting from Central Park as dogs frolic in the snow with their bundled-up owners.
“We’re expecting about 10 inches here. It all depends on when we mix with the sleet, which are going to see probably after noontime today,” Cantore said. “Folks are out here running. They’re out here walking. They’re having a good time. I think everybody’s kind of happy to see the snow.”
Dozens of videos about his arrival in New York poured in on TikTok, with one user going so far as to say: “S—t’s about to get real.”
Another posted, “When you’re from the south but currently living in NYC… Jim Cantore means it’s REAL,” with a crying emoji.
Throw in ravaged grocery stores, schools being shuttered Monday, and over 2,000 Sanitation workers operating on 12-hour shifts, and you know that some type of “Game of Thrones” winter weather is about to wallop the five boroughs.
