LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (WCAX) – A notorious killer from our region was on trial at the Essex County courthouse on this day in 2000. Jeffrey Glanda was facing a first-degree murder charge for killing his ex-wife Jeannine.
Glanda hired another man, Nicholas Pecoraro, to help him. The two men drowned Jeannine in her Lake Placid home using water from Upper Cascade Lake. They then tried to make it look like an accident by pushing her car into that lake.
Both men were found guilty. Glanda died in prison in 2019 while serving a life sentence.
