As predicted, Brooklyn Heights and the entire Tri-State Area received heavy snow today, which may continue into tomorrow morning. As reported by Mary Frost in the Eagle, 10.5 inches had fallen in Williamsburg by 4:30 pm today. As the Eagle story tells, residents with their shovels, the city, and the MTA were quick to respond. The Department of Sanitation pre-salted roads, and plowing began at 8:30 am. The MTA put snow chains on the tires of buses, which are “prepared to pick up any slack” if above ground portions of the subway s ystem are affected. Riders are encouraged to check the MTA website for the latest information. Tomorrow (Monday, January 26) we are advised to “hunker down” as the winter storm warning stays in effect until noon and roads will be considered dangerous all day. City schools will be closed, but students in elementary schools are expected to attend classes remotely. Students in middle and high schools are not affected, as those schools were scheduled to be closed for a “professional development day.”
As noted in the photo above, courtesy of Mary Frost and the Eagle, some kids were able to enjoy the snow.
