Earlier this week, a judge ruled that New York’s 11th Congressional district, as currently drawn, discriminates against black and Latino voters.
The district covers Staten Island and part of southern Brooklyn, and is currently represented by Nicole Malliotakis, the only Republican congressperson in the city.
Jeffrey Wice, a redistricting expert and professor at New York Law School, joined NY1 to break it down.
