Police in Queens shot a man who lunged at them while armed with a knife, according to law enforcement sources.
Officers responded to a call just before 10:30 a.m. Monday on Parsons Boulevard in Jamaica. When they arrived, police found the man with a knife inside the building vestibule.
The man lunged at officers, law enforcement sources said, and they opened fire. He was shot multiple times and rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
Officers were taken to the hospital for tinnitus, but no other injuries were reported.
The knife was recovered at the scene.
