Dorothy “Dore” R. Marotta, 83, of West Brighton, died on Jan. 23, 2026, at Richmond University Medical Center after a battle with heart disease. Born in Lynbrook, N.Y., she graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology in 1964, where she met her future husband, Joseph Marotta. They married in 1965 and made their home in Staten Island. Dore worked with the New York City Department of Health before taking time to raise her 4 children, later returning to work at Universal Labs.

An avid traveler, she explored the world with her husband before his passing in 2008. She completed the New York City Marathon in 2009 and dedicated her retirement to her family, including 11 grandchildren. She enjoyed Yankees games, beach outings, seasonal home decorating, and was a devoted fan of Disney, the Avengers, Jeopardy!, Harrison Ford and James Bond films, and especially the Olympics. She is survived by her children Suzanne Carbonaro, Maureen Dowling, Paul Marotta, and Andrew Marotta; 11 grandchildren; sister Maryann Bollinger; and cousin Carol Belli.
