Not so long ago, there were several places you could go in New York at any hour of the day or night to pick up a box of cereal or bag of chips.
Wegmans was the first supermarket chain in the state to stay open 24/7 and almost all of their stores as well as most Tops locations offered those hours as recent as 2020.
But as we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic changed a lot, including the grocery store landscape, and the state’s 24/7 store options are now few and far between.
Here’s a look at 24-hour stores still left in New York.

What stores are still open 24/7 in New York?
Many Byrne Dairy stores, which offer grocery items like milk, sandwiches and salads, are open 24/7 throughout New York state. Most of New York’s 7-Eleven locations are also open 24/7, but they’re more limited in their grocery item selection.
There are a handful of CVS locations open 24/7 in New York as well, but most locations have more limited hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

What are the hours for other New York stores?
Here’s a look at what the normal operating hours are for most New York grocery stores and large retailers.
Wegmans: Most Wegmans locations in New York are open from 6 a.m. to midnight, according to the Wegmans website.
Tops: While most Tops locations open their doors at 6 a.m. in New York, their closing times range from 10 p.m. to midnight depending on the store, Tops’ website states.
Walmart: Most New York Walmart stores are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to Walmart’s website.

Target: Most Target locations in New York are open daily from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., but some open an hour earlier and close an hour later, according to the Target website.
Whole Foods: Most New Yorkers should be able to stop at their Whole Foods stores between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, the Whole Foods website states.
Walgreens: Pharmacy and store hours vary at New York Walgreens locations, but most are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Walgreens’ website says.
